Overview

The Harvard Environmental Fellowship Program 2027 is a two-year fellowship designed for recent PhD graduates. It aims to enable fellows to utilize Harvard University's extensive resources and expertise to address pressing environmental issues. Approximately five fellowships are anticipated to be awarded for the 2027 cohort, with the program scheduled to begin in July 2027.

Coverage

This is a fully-funded fellowship. Benefits include a generous yearly salary of $92,000, comprehensive employee health insurance, up to $2,500 to cover relocation costs, and an annual allowance of $2,500 for travel and other professional expenditures. The Harvard University Center for the Environment (HUCE) also organizes a co-curricular program, which includes bi-weekly dinners with Harvard faculty members and guest speakers, designed to foster connections and collaboration among the fellows.

Eligibility

The program is open to citizens of any nation, making Ethiopian students eligible. Applicants must have received a PhD or a similar terminal degree between May 2023 and August 2027. Master's degree holders are not eligible for this program. Candidates are required to propose a research project focused on environmental issues and must secure a Harvard faculty member to host their research. Demonstrated English proficiency is also a necessary requirement.

Requirements

To be considered, candidates must possess a PhD or a similar terminal degree obtained within the specified timeframe (May 2023 - August 2027). They need to submit a detailed proposed research project and identify a Harvard faculty member who agrees to host and supervise their research. A recommendation letter is also a mandatory part of the application. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English.

How to apply

The application process involves developing a research project proposal, identifying and securing a Harvard faculty member to serve as your host/supervisor, and submitting a recommendation letter. Detailed application instructions and specific submission procedures should be thoroughly reviewed on the official Harvard University Center for the Environment website. There is no application fee for this program.

Notes
