Overview

The HKBU International Writers’ Workshop (IWW) Writers-in-Residence Programme 2027 is a prestigious residency for international writers, taking place from 26 February to 25 March 2027 in Hong Kong. The program aims to foster global literary exchange.

Coverage

This is a fully funded opportunity. It covers roundtrip economy-class airfare, on-campus accommodation for 4 weeks, and a per diem to cover daily expenses. There are no registration or participation fees.

Eligibility

Open to writers from around the world, including Ethiopia. Applicants must not currently reside in Hong Kong. There is no age restriction.

Requirements

Applicants must have published at least one literary book with a press. You must have a functional command of English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese). You must be available to attend the full duration of the program, including the Welcome Ceremony and the Literary Festival.

How to apply

Prepare a single PDF file containing: a 1-page Artist’s Statement (English or Chinese), 10–12 pages of recent creative work, a CV/Resume, and contact information for two referees. If your original work is not in English or Chinese, include a translation. Email the complete PDF to [email protected] by the deadline.

Notes

Participants are encouraged to share work related to the festival theme, 'Inheritance'. All documents must be in 12-point type with 1-inch margins.
