Overview

This is a paid scientific internship program offered by the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Austria. It is open to undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing research in natural and mathematical sciences, providing an opportunity to work with leading researchers and gain hands-on experience. Internships can range from 2 months to 1 year.

Coverage

Selected candidates will receive a minimum salary of EUR 1,583 gross per month under an employment contract with ISTA.

Eligibility

The internship is open to students of all nationalities, including Ethiopian students. Applicants must be currently pursuing or have already obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree in natural sciences, computer sciences, mathematics, or any related discipline. Candidates should have a relevant academic background, be passionate about research, and demonstrate interest in the research topic of the group they wish to join. Having transferable research experience or technical skills is a significant advantage.

Required documents include a description of your past academic background, personal information, a motivation letter, and a CV (in PDF format).

How to apply

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. There is no central deadline, but interested candidates should contact the respective group leader or staff scientist directly at ISTA. Your registration in the application portal (step 3 of the application process) must be completed at least two months before your intended start date. There is no application fee.

Notes

You cannot be employed as a scientific intern at ISTA if you are simultaneously employed or funded elsewhere. ISTA does not charge any processing or application fees for its programs.
