Overview

The Judicial Fellowship Program is a professional exchange and residential learning experience for international judges and magistrates. It aims to strengthen judicial systems by combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills in rule of law, ethical decision-making, and judicial performance.

Coverage

This is a fully funded program. It covers all travel costs, accommodation, group meals, and group admissions for the duration of the two-week program (September 26 – October 10, 2026). Participants will also receive an invitation letter to support their U.S. visa application.

Eligibility

Open to early- or mid-career judges and magistrates from countries in Africa (including Ethiopia), Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. Applicants must be eligible for a U.S. visa.

Requirements

Applicants must have 5-7 years of experience presiding over civil or criminal cases, a proven record of leadership, a commitment to integrity and ethical conduct, and strong English language proficiency. You must be willing to share and apply the knowledge gained to advance the rule of law in your home country.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the official online form on the Presidential Precinct website. Required documents include a CV/resume, a letter of recommendation, a short bio, a video message, and a valid passport. You will also need to answer essay questions regarding judicial challenges in your country and your professional goals.

Notes

The program includes site visits to Washington, DC (including the U.S. Supreme Court) and the University of Virginia. There is no application or registration fee.
