Migration Policy Institute (MPI) Internships 2027

The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) offers the Demetrios G. Papademetriou Young Scholars Program, providing internships for individuals interested in migration and communications. The program aims to utilize interns' contributions to MPI's work and train future leaders in these fields. Internships are available both in-person and remotely, including for those residing outside the United States.

Interns receive a biweekly stipend of $1,472 for full-time positions, with a prorated amount for part-time interns. Students may also arrange to receive academic credit for their work. Please note that MPI does not cover relocation expenses.

This opportunity is open to non-U.S. citizens. Applicants do not need U.S. work authorization if they reside and work from outside the United States throughout the internship cycle. However, if working in the United States, U.S. work authorization is required, as MPI cannot provide visa sponsorship (H-1B, J-1, H-3, or F-1 visas). Applicants must be at least a college junior. Current students, college graduates, graduate students, and early-career professionals are encouraged to apply. Individuals without college experience but with substantial relevant work experience will also be considered. All applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Foreign language skills, proficiency in Office and other software programs, and strong quantitative skills are beneficial. Minority applicants and those from immigrant or refugee backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. For the Latin America and Caribbean Initiative, written proficiency and oral fluency in Spanish are required.

Applicants must submit the following materials: * CV/Resume. * Cover letter (maximum 2 single-spaced pages) detailing personal or professional interest in migration and/or public policy, specifying the desired MPI program area(s), and describing relevant research, academic, or professional experiences. * Writing sample (maximum 5 single-spaced pages in English) demonstrating clear and analytical writing about migration, integration, refugee issues, or other public policy topics. Acceptable samples include course papers, policy memos, research reports, or published articles. * Transcript (official or unofficial) from all colleges/universities attended, showing courses and grades.
