The UK Embassy Paid Internships program for 2026 invites applications from international students and recent graduates. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in diplomacy, international relations, and public service within a dynamic and multicultural environment at various UK Embassy locations worldwide.
Coverage
Interns receive a stipend to help cover living expenses, making the internship financially viable. Beyond financial support, the program offers significant professional growth through hands-on experience in a diplomatic setting, working on real projects. Interns will have opportunities to build a professional network with embassy staff, including diplomats and foreign service officers. The program also includes training sessions and workshops to enhance skills in communication, research, policy analysis, and project management. Additionally, interns gain valuable cultural exposure to both UK culture and the culture of the host country.
Eligibility
This internship is open to all international students, including those from Ethiopia. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university program or have recently graduated. Relevant fields of study include International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Law, and Communications. Applicants must generally be at least 18 years old. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of additional languages may be an advantage depending on the specific role. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the country where the embassy is located or be eligible to obtain the necessary work permits. A strong academic record, often with a minimum GPA, is required, and previous relevant experience (internships, volunteer work, part-time jobs) can enhance an application.
Requirements
Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents: a detailed Resume/CV highlighting academic achievements, relevant experience, skills, and extracurricular activities; a well-written Cover Letter explaining interest in the internship and suitability; official Academic Transcripts from your university; and typically two to three Letters of Recommendation from professors or previous employers.
How to apply
The application process is conducted online. Interested candidates should visit the official link provided, browse the available internship opportunities, and click on the desired position. It is crucial to carefully read the specific criteria set for each program before submitting an application.
