UNICEF Thought Leadership Internship 2026 in USA | Paid Internship

This is a paid Thought Leadership and Strategic Engagement Internship offered by UNICEF's Global Programme Division. It is based in the United States, with the option to work onsite in New York or remotely, and is expected to last approximately 3 months, starting in June 2026. Interns will support global programmes, strategic communication, and policy-related work, contributing to meaningful projects that impact children and communities worldwide.

This is a fully-funded paid internship, meaning interns will receive financial compensation. UNICEF may also provide support for travel and visa expenses when funding is available.

This international internship is open to applicants from around the world, including Ethiopian students. Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate or advanced degree in relevant fields such as business, economics, social sciences, political science, international development, or communications. Applicants should possess strong writing and communication skills, the ability to create engaging content, strong organizational and project management skills, and analytical thinking. An interest in global policy, development, or strategic communications is required. Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment, engage with various stakeholders, and contribute to structured outputs and reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is essential, and familiarity with digital platforms is an advantage. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of another UN language (such as French or Spanish) is an advantage.
