The UNU Junior Fellows Internship is a paid, 6-month program hosted by the United Nations University (UNU) at its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Coverage

Eligibility

Applicants must be currently pursuing or have recently completed (within the last two years) postgraduate studies (Master’s or Doctoral) in a field related to UNU’s work. Candidates must be under 32 years of age and have no more than 5 years of relevant work experience. Native or fluent proficiency in written and spoken English is required, along with excellent research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills, creativity in problem-solving, and advanced computer skills (MS Office, ICT tools, Microsoft Excel). A demonstrated interest in the work of the UN and UNU is essential.

Requirements

Required documents include a current CV, Cover Letter, the UNU Application Form, the UNU Funding Form, two letters of recommendation, English language certification, and a copy of your passport.

Notes

The program duration is approximately 6 months (24 weeks), running from September 2026 to February 2027. Candidates with fluency in both English and French may have additional opportunities to work with UNU offices in Paris.
