Overview

The WTO Internship Programme is an international opportunity for driven postgraduate students and recent graduates worldwide. It aims to provide real-world job experience within an advanced, international environment, specifically at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. Interns will gain an understanding of the WTO and trade policy, while also having opportunities in specialist areas like finance, human resources, IT, administration, communications, trade laws and policy, information management, and economics. The program is designed to increase the diversity of the WTO workforce.

Coverage

This is a paid internship. Interns receive a daily allowance of CHF 60, which includes weekends and official holidays. However, travel expenses to and from Geneva are not covered by the WTO, and such travel is not included in the Organization's insurance. Interns are responsible for organizing their own mandatory medical health insurance coverage in Switzerland prior to starting their internship.

Eligibility

Applicants must be between 21 and 30 years of age. They must be nationals of a WTO member state country or a country, state, or territory currently engaged in accession negotiations with the WTO. Ethiopia, as a developing country and an LDC, and an observer government in accession, is eligible. Candidates should have completed their undergraduate studies and a minimum of one year of their postgraduate degree, or hold a Master's or PhD degree. Two additional WTO internship programs are specifically reserved for postgraduate students from developing countries and Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

Requirements

Specific required documents are not clearly stated on the official program page but will be requested during the online application process through the WTO external jobs platform.

How to apply

The application process for the WTO Internship Programme is conducted online. Students must apply through the official WTO external jobs platform. Applicants will need to select their area of interest and provide all supporting documents as required by the online application form. It is advised to complete the application carefully and submit it as early as possible.
