Overview

The U.S. Visitor Visa (B-1/B-2) is a nonimmigrant visa for individuals traveling to the United States temporarily for business (B-1), tourism (B-2), or a combination of both (B-1/B-2). It allows for short-term stays for activities such as meetings, conferences, vacations, or visiting family.

Eligibility

Ethiopian citizens are eligible to apply for a B-1/B-2 visa. Applicants must demonstrate strong ties to their home country to prove they intend to return after their temporary stay.

Requirements

Applicants must have a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay. Required documents include a completed Form DS-160, a valid passport, a recent photo (51mm x 51mm), proof of financial support, and evidence of the purpose of the trip and intent to return to Ethiopia.

How to apply

1. Complete the online Form DS-160. 2. Pay the required visa application fees. 3. Schedule an interview at the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa. 4. Prepare supporting documentation. 5. Attend the in-person interview.

Notes

A visa does not guarantee entry into the U.S.; final admission is determined by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the port of entry. Overstaying a visa has serious legal consequences and may result in being barred from future travel to the U.S.
