Overview

The WHO Global Internship Programme provides students and recent graduates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the technical and administrative programs of the World Health Organization. It aims to develop future leaders in public health by exposing them to global health systems and international health policy.

Coverage

The internship is funded. Benefits include a monthly stipend, living allowance, lunch vouchers, and medical and accident insurance.

Eligibility

Open to students and recent graduates from all WHO Member States, including Ethiopia. Applicants must be at least 20 years old, enrolled in a university (or have graduated within the last 18 months), and have completed at least three years of full-time studies. You must not have previously participated in the WHO Internship Programme and must not be related to a WHO staff member.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a valid passport of a WHO Member State and be fluent in at least one working language of the office of assignment. Required documents typically include a CV/resume, cover letter, and a letter of recommendation from a professor or employer.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online through the official WHO Careers portal. Candidates should browse the specific vacancy notices on the WHO website and follow the instructions to apply for individual internship positions.

Notes

There is no IELTS or language test requirement, though fluency in the office's working language is mandatory. Deadlines vary by specific internship position.
