Overview

The International UN Volunteer Program allows qualified individuals to serve in countries other than their own to support peace, humanitarian action, and sustainable development initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Assignments range from 1 to 48 months.

Coverage

Volunteers receive a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) to cover basic living expenses during their assignment.

Eligibility

Open to all nationalities, including Ethiopian citizens. Applicants must be between 18 and 80 years of age.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the specific education, work experience, and skill requirements of the chosen assignment. Proficiency in English, French, or Spanish is required depending on the role. Categories include UN Community Volunteer (no experience), Associate (1 month+ experience), Specialist (3 years+ experience), and Expert (7 years+ experience).
