Overview

The James Buchanan Fellowship is a one-year program designed for early-career scholars who have recently completed their doctoral degrees. It focuses on the political economy of Virginia, Adam Smith, and the Austrian and Bloomington schools. Fellows participate in three weekend colloquia at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Coverage

The fellowship provides an award of up to $8,000, which covers a stipend, reading materials, and travel and lodging expenses for the required colloquia.

Eligibility

Open to international applicants from any part of the world who have completed their PhD within the last six years. Applicants should hold an academic position at an accredited university or a research position at an organization dedicated to social sciences.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a 1-2 page cover letter detailing their graduate career, research interests, and goals; a CV/Resume; academic publications (if available); and responses to short-answer questions. Candidates must be able to travel for the three required weekend colloquia.
