Overview

The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) Scholarship 2026-27 is a fully funded scholarship offered by the Malaysian Government, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980. It aims to provide postgraduate study opportunities in Malaysia for students from developing countries, fostering global cooperation and sharing Malaysia's development expertise. The program offers a multicultural academic environment and access to cutting-edge research facilities.

Coverage

This is a fully funded scholarship. Recipients will receive full tuition fee coverage for their master's degree, a monthly allowance to cover living expenses, and a return economy-class airline ticket for travel to and from Malaysia.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens of a developing country recognized by the Malaysian government. They must not be more than 45 years old at the start of the program. Candidates are required to possess excellent academic credentials, specifically an undergraduate degree with a Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.00 or above. Proof of English proficiency is mandatory, demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, a TOEFL iBT score of 60 or above, or an official letter from their previous institution confirming English as the medium of instruction for their obtained degree. Applicants must also be healthy and demonstrate a passion for learning and contributing to their home country's development.

Requirements

Required documents include a completed online application form, the latest Admission Offer Letter from a Malaysian University for the 2026-27 academic intake (if applicable), two Letters of Recommendation, an Endorsement form, a certified copy of the Academic Transcript (including an official document describing the university's grade system if CGPA/marks are not on the transcript), a Curriculum Vitae, a certified copy of English Language Proficiency test results (TOEFL/IELTS) or an official letter of English as medium of instruction, a copy of the applicant's Passport, and a Medical examination form.

How to apply

Applicants are required to register on the Malaysian Government application portal. The application form must be filled out carefully and submitted online with all the required documents. It is crucial that all application forms are properly filled out and endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the National Focal Point (the relevant ministry or agency coordinating international technical assistance) in the applicant’s home country.

Notes

The scholarship duration for a master's degree is between 24 to 36 months. Scholars are encouraged to return to their home countries upon completion of their studies to apply their knowledge and experiences for national development.
