Overview

The UNU Junior Fellows Internship is a competitive, paid program based at the United Nations University (UNU) headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. It is designed for graduate students and young professionals to gain hands-on experience in research, policy analysis, and project coordination within the UN system.

Coverage

Selected fellows receive a monthly stipend to cover living costs, transport to/from the UNU headquarters in Shibuya, office space, and access to the headquarters’ library and gym. Fellows are also entitled to 1.5 days of leave per month.

Eligibility

The program is open to all nationals worldwide. Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently completed a Master’s or PhD degree.

Requirements

Applicants must have a strong interest in international relations, development studies, or public policy. Candidates must possess excellent communication and research skills, be fluent in English, and have no more than 5 years of work experience in their related field.
