Overview

The World Health Organization (WHO) is offering an internship opportunity in Geneva, Switzerland. This full-time, on-site internship is for students and recent graduates interested in public health, health data, research, tobacco control, and global health. The internship is scheduled to run from February 1, 2027, to July 16, 2027, at the WHO Headquarters. There is no application fee.

Coverage

This is a funded internship. Interns will receive a living allowance of up to CHF 1,680 per month if their permanent residence is outside Geneva, or up to CHF 739 per month if their permanent residence is in Geneva. Additionally, interns will receive CHF 20 daily lunch vouchers for working days, medical insurance, and accident insurance.

Eligibility

Candidates from all around the world are eligible to apply, including Ethiopian students. Applicants must have completed the equivalent of at least three years of full-time university study in a health or data-science-related field before the internship begins. They must also be currently enrolled in a university program leading to a formal qualification, or have graduated within 18 months of completing their qualification. Essential requirements include familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and expert knowledge of English. Knowledge of specialized statistical or data-analysis software is an advantage.

Requirements

Applicants should be studying or have recently graduated in fields such as Public Health, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, Health Policy, Global Health, or other healthcare-related disciplines. The internship will involve supporting WHO’s work on the WHO Report on the Global Tobacco Epidemic (GTCR), which includes tasks like proofreading and cross-checking reports, data validation and analysis, web research and data collection, organizing and validating data and documents, preparing information for the report, supporting the launch of the report, and participating in ongoing departmental projects.
